Built by someone who cares about new driver safety.
DriveReady Coach exists because supervised practice deserves better tools than a mental checklist and a hope that everything gets covered.
What DriveReady Coach is
DriveReady Coach is a standalone app for the person in the passenger seat — a parent supervising a learner, or a driving instructor tracking a student between lessons. It's not a quiz app and it doesn't teach road rules. It's a coaching and logging tool: it helps you run a consistent pre-drive check, note what went well and what didn't during the drive, and see how a learner is actually progressing over time.
Every supervised drive gets logged with real conditions — day or night, local roads or highway, clear, cloudy, or wet. Every skill gets a one-tap observation while you're still watching the road. Over several drives, patterns emerge: what's becoming solid, and what genuinely still needs work. When it's time to talk to an instructor, you export a dated PDF log instead of trying to remember three weeks of practice from memory.
Why it was built
Supervising a learner driver is a real responsibility, and most people doing it — parents especially — are improvising. You're watching the road, coaching in the moment, and trying to remember what needs more practice next time, all at once. Nothing gets written down. Nothing gets tracked. By the time a driving instructor asks "how's the highway driving going?", the honest answer is usually a guess.
DriveReady Coach was built to close that gap — not by adding homework, but by making the thing you're already doing (watching, coaching, noticing) take two seconds to record. The pre-drive checklist exists because the habit of checking a vehicle properly matters as much as the driving itself. The pattern detection exists because "he's pretty good now" is a lot more useful when it's backed by five actual drives, not a feeling.
Who built it, and why
DriveReady Coach is built and maintained by a solo, Alberta-based developer with a long-running focus on driver education tools. It started as a companion idea alongside DriveReady, a Canadian driver knowledge test prep platform — and it kept coming back to one observation: passing the knowledge test is one problem, but nobody was building anything for the actual supervised driving hours that come before a road test. DriveReady Coach is the answer to that gap, built the same way DriveReady was — independently, with no ad network, no data broker, and no interest in either.
How it relates to DriveReady
DriveReady Coach is a separate, standalone product from DriveReady (drivereadycanada.ca), Canada's driver knowledge test preparation platform. They share a name and a visual family because they share a mission — helping new drivers get ready, safely — but they solve different problems for different people.
- DriveReady is for the learner driver studying for a written knowledge test, province by province, in Canada.
- DriveReady Coach is for the parent or instructor supervising the actual practice drives, anywhere in the world.
You don't need one to use the other. They just happen to be built by the same person, for the same reason.
Better Practice. Better Drivers.
